Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) was not formally recognized until 1980, barely three decades ago. At that time, little was known about whether PTSD could affect children and adolescents, or if it was exclusive to adults. Today, we know that young people ARE susceptible and CAN develop PTSD, and precious few of them ever get the help they so desperately need.
